Automatic arranging and filtering of tabs and groups
There should be an ability to sort and filter tabs and groups based on attributes like tab title, URL, most recently used, etc.
This is very interesting and usefyl feature
See my idea here for how this could be implemented:
I would like to see a kind visual color grouping inside of groups based on the same domain. Like e.g. IE8 does color its tabs. But it should be very kind and light in color, so its not distracting.
I agree with David Stein. I don't see myself using this feature either. Since I'm going to be using groups with TabCandy, I would put related tabs - as I open them - in the relevant groups myself.
And (according to Aza) while we would be able to open two different Gmail accounts (each in a different group), automatic grouping would break up my groups set up that way for different profiles. For example, I might have three groups for three different profiles, each having a Gmail tab, a Facebook tab, a MafiaWars tab, a Twitter tab, a mySpace tab, etc. Automatic grouping might group all the social networking tabs together thus forcing a "cookie conflict". So it might be necessary to avoid arranging tabs which have "logged in" sessions.
If at all this feature is to be implemented, it would be nice if the user could set up the rules for filtering - like e-mail filtering rules for example.

Automatic arranging based on attributes like most frequently used shall be cool also!..
Oh mine is more manual so my comment should maybe go into this idea topic:
But this automatic thing could be an option for ungrouped tabs.
This would be cool maybe a little search box like seen in fox tab. All animated with slide in and slide out. And an option to remember last position (in/out).
Typing like "title:blah" will search for blah in title. "notes:blah" will search notes. "metadata:blah" will search metadata. "group:blah" will search for group name. "body:blah" will search the body of the tabs for that. And just "blah" probably should make it search what is most commonly search i dont know what that is, maybe title of page?
All the viewing functions should be amalgamated in one place allowing the user to search via User Notes, History, Utility, Metadata and Custom Grouping. I have pages and pages of notes for sites I'll need to refer to at a later date or specific project.
I would love to be able to use my scroll button to scan through the stack of tabs when it is at it's smallest point. Maybe a video conference or chat feature to help with explanation of your tab groups.
If this would allow you to bulk close all the tabs from a certain domain, that would be hot. Like, when I am done browsing amazon.com, kill everything with that domain
It would be great to have this feature if the automatic filter were set up by the user. For example, I set it so that every flikr or picasa page is put automatically into a "Pictures" group, or any time I open up a page at the NYT, Economist, or BBC it automatically files itself into a "News" group.

Eh, I don't really see myself using this feature. There's only so far that automated info-sorting can take you... :/
Exactly! Like IE, many people were satisfied that tabs 'grouped' from other tabs they were opened. Please implement this into an auto-grouping feature.
I like it!! This is definitely an excellent tool to have. It sounds pretty integral as opposed to being an extension. Also possibly an "undo auto arrange" option in case you change your mind on the tab grouping or something.
