An OPTION that allows users to unload tabs/groups out of ram memory onto the hard drive when they haven't been viewed for a specified amount of time, is i think really important.

This would allow Firefox to be extremely fast all the time, especially if it is programmed in such a way that those tabs and groups that are on the hard drive cache get ZERO CPU time and are invisible until the user views them again, in which case they get pulled back into ram.

This would allow dozens, hundreds of tabs to run smoothly. I have quite a lot of tabs running all the time, and even on my i5 core high spec pc, Firefox can become slightly jerky in it's response if i go overboard, say 200+ tabs - i know that's a lot, but people multitask and from one site you end up opening so many tabs.

Ideally background tabs/groups should get zero CPU time and only the focussed tab should get it, but i imagine that's really difficult when websites use so many scripts, flash, etc.

I hope this signals the merging of these two concepts. Really, for me, bookmarks are a place where websites go to die and I use tabs like i would imagine bookmarks were intended for: keeping track of ideas i want to keep as a reminder. Tree Style Tabs allows me to organize those ideas in ways that would be too time consuming to replicate with bookmarks.

Watching that demo made me realize that the two concepts should be merged into one. The TabCandy concept seems to be a great way of accomplishing this.

The only suggestion I have is to move older tab groups out of memory, either after a set time, set usage of memory, manually, or better yet: all the above.

Tab candy should have keyboard shortcuts like this:

1: [ALT]+[~] = Open tab candy

2: [CTRL]+[1 or 2 ... or 9 ] = Go to tab 1 or 2 ... or 9 in current tab group

3: [CTRL]+[0] = Show input window and go to tab in current group, that you type. It can be even tab nr. 299. in current group.

4: [Shift]+[~] = Next tab group

5: [CTRL]+[~] = Previous tab group

6 [CTRL]+[Shift] = New tab group

6: [CTRL]+[Shift]+[1 or 2 ... or 9 ] = Go to group 1 or 2 ... or 9.

7: [CTRL]+[Shift]+[0] = Show input window and go to group that you type in.

8: [CTRL]+[Shift]+[ALT]+[1 - 9] = Move curent tab to group 1 -9

9: [CTRL]+[ALT]+[1 - 9] = Save and close group 1 - 9

And more like this...
Every shortcut should be customizable with option to even disable it.

Tab candy is a great idea but what would be even better if it was already integrated to the tab bar. What I mean is that the ability to group and organize would be aready in tab bar and groups would appear next to open tabs. I even made a picture of my idea.

Something really simple but I think it's enough to give you the idea.
There you can see there are four groups. Three of them are collapsed and one expanded.
- When hovering on a group it shows (maybe?) vertically what tabs are in that group.
- When clicking on a group it expands and the previous group collapses.
- Ability to drag&drop tabs from current group to other group.
- Ability to hide groups to tab candy page.
- Ability to organaize everything in tab candy page (well thats already there :D).
- Maybe automatically makeing a new group when opening a number of new tabs from one webpage (for example when on Google search opening all results from page one).
- Grouping selected tabs... if there would be the ability to select tabs?

Lastly... I don't know if it's in the right place to ask it but I hope there's a way to reduce memory consumption because if that many tabs are open at the same time then usually firefox consumes a lot of memory. Even though I have 6gb mem with i7 the huge memory consumption still increases the chance of firefox craching. It's almost always on top of the memory consumtion list on my PC with 878 532K (I have surfed internet all day and currently have over 20 tabs open) and the second place on mem consumption is svchost.exe with 134 184K.
I know it might be maybe some addons fault or something, I don't know and when I restart firefox it's normal and again but still it's problem till I don't restart it.
I found "AFOM addon" for this and I'll try it right now to see how it works but I don't know if that's the best solution.

I like how the panel opens but sometimes i dont want to open that huge panel. I was hoping maybe if we right click on that button that opens the big panel with all tabs, it just slides down the tab bar and we see rows of our tabs. They should of course be grouped, maybe like could share a common background color. And then when I click on a tab it will make that tab selected and the tab bar that was slid open to be wide now slides back up to one row and shows the row of the group of tabs that the current tab is in. I think this would be awesome!
